I recall going into London as a child with my mother and seeing the bright colours of the paintings in the galleries there. I came home and chose an image of a dog’s head in my colouring book and filled the spaces with bright colours, just like those old artists had done. When I showed it to my parents they laughed at it – this inhibited any further adventures into colour.

From then on I was afraid to use colour and drew exclusively in pencil. But having studied at UCA I reclaimed my former love of colour. I create my work in my studio space in Hatfield Hertfordshire where I live with Pan, my cat.

Rainbow Warrior

Inspired by an exercise on my degree course with UCA, I reproduced this using the original pencil crayon drawing as a reference.

Fallen Angel

This started life as a purely abstract piece. But as I painted I felt it required something extra.

Window of Opportunity

This piece has mixed media,  collage and neocolour 1 crayons which form the bubble-like texture.

Urban Forest

I began by painting half the canvas green and the other half pink.

Letters Home

It is a nostalgic piece recalling times when people still wrote letters to one another.

Interstellar Tube

I began this painting using a bold sweeping wave in pthalo blue, followed by the lighter shades of waves forming the rough circle.
